Production Tech: Laser Cutting, CNC Bending, Powder Coating
Material: Steel Sheet, Solid Oak
Awards: XXIV Compasso d’Oro (Selection), ADI Design Index
Officine Tamborrino specializes in sheet metal processing, primarily for office and industrial shelving. The strategic goal was to leverage this manufacturing capability to enter the high-end residential market. The challenge was to transform a cold, thin material (3mm steel sheet) into a “warm,” premium living room object, without adding expensive secondary structures or internal frames.
Instead of using standard tubular legs, we exploited CNC Bending technology to give structural inertia to the thin sheet metal. The curvature of the legs isn’t just aesthetic; it provides the static rigidity needed to support the tabletop without wobbling. The design creates a “monocoque-like” stability using minimal material thickness. The semi-assembled delivery allows for a cleaner design with invisible joints, ensuring the end-user perceives a monolithic sculpture rather than a kit of parts.

Brand Repositioning: Proved that industrial sheet metal can compete in the luxury furniture sector.
Material Efficiency: Maximized the aesthetic impact of a single material (Steel) with zero structural waste.
Recognition: Selected for ADI Design Index for its ability to combine industrial efficiency with architectural elegance.
